The confiscation of cars from drunk and drugged people will not completely disappear if the Constitutional Court respects the request of the Supreme Court to review the rules for impounding cars.
This was announced by lawyer Elitsa Buenova to NOVA. According to her, constitutional judges are limited by the request of the Constitutional Court.
The request is for the cancellation of the confiscation and the fine in the event of a traffic accident caused by drunken or drugged driving. In other words, in the event of a drunken or drugged person's accident, the car will not be confiscated, said lawyer Buenova.
The confiscation was probably adopted not for prevention, but to renew the administration's fleet, commented the lawyer.
The other request is when checking and finding that the driver is drunk or drugged. Then the request of the Supreme Court is for the confiscation to remain, but for the payment of the equivalent to be dropped if the car is not yours, explained Buenova. According to her, the deputies should now foresee a fine for these cases, which should be in the amount of BGN 1,000-100,000 and the court should determine it according to the property status of the offenders.
The confiscation is a working measure and should not be taken a step back, commented the car racer Rumen Dunev.
