Ukraine is waiting for help from the US and is working for it, said Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal, who met in the American capital with the leader of the democratic minority in the US House of Representatives, Hakim Jeffries, reported UKRINFORM, quoted by BTA.

The prime minister wrote in the "Telegram" application that leaders in American business circles are interested in Ukraine and that it is in Ukraine's interest to become the next destination for American investments, adds the Ukrainian agency.

Shmigal commented on the topics discussed at the US-Ukraine Partnership Forum in Washington, UKRINFORM specifies. According to him, the purpose of this year's edition of the meeting is to unite efforts to restore Ukraine and attract American investment in the economy of his country.

"The forum was attended by American business leaders and we witnessed great interest in our country. It is important for us that Ukraine becomes the next destination of their investments," Shmigal said.

He informed the participants of the forum about the promising sectors of the Ukrainian economy and the steps taken by his government to transform the country. Shmygal noted that Ukraine is reaching its pre-war export volume, largely thanks to the Black Sea trade corridor, and is continuing to develop its complex of ports on the Danube River.

"The public-private partnership is getting a new boost. We use the momentum from establishing new rules and removing bans. New industrial complexes are emerging. Big investors can get unique tax and regulatory reliefs," the Prime Minister noted, quoted by UKRINFORM.

Aid to Ukraine is not just charity, but an investment in the strength of democracy, the Ukrainian prime minister also said, quoted by Reuters.

If Russia cripples the Ukrainian economy, it will cripple the Ukrainian state to the extent that it will not be able to defend itself on the battlefield, the prime minister added.

He said he expects the US Congress to approve legislation allowing the US government to seize frozen Russian assets to aid Ukraine. Schmigal assured that the goal of his government is zero tolerance for the abuse of state funds.

Shmigal and Ukraine's Finance Minister Serhii Marchenko met in the US capital Washington with US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen on the sidelines of the spring meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.
