Six institutions entered the tax warehouses of "Lukoil Neftohim Burgas" and "Lukoil Bulgaria". They carry out an inventory of the energy products in the companies' bases. The operation was ordered by acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev, BNT reported.
This is the first time such an inspection has been carried out on such a scale, and it comes after the Cabinet Office's findings of numerous speculations about the refinery and talks with it by the authorities.
From "Lukoil" they told BNT that at this stage they have nothing to comment on. They are not worried, as they say that there are such inspections almost every month.
Nearly 200 employees from the Customs, the National Revenue Agency, the Ministry of the Interior, the State Reserve Agency participate in the inspections. If necessary, the teams will also seek assistance from the State Agency for Metrological and Technical Supervision.
The operation covers the tax warehouses of the two companies, representing oil bases in Sofia, Stara Zagora, Varna, Ruse, Plovdiv and Burgas. According to BNT information, a total of 12 sites in the country are being checked, including the state reserve warehouses.
Early this morning, the inspectors also entered the oil refinery in Burgas.
"No signal at all. What is done by DANS aims to make a complete inventory. Not only on documents, but physical inspection. It will be checked for compliance of what is on paper and what is the physical quantity of all fuels available. As here, I want to reassure the Bulgarian citizens that this will in no way harm the activities of the two commercial companies, as well as the supply of fuel to the citizens", said Kalin Stoyanov, Acting Minister of the Interior.
For the time being, the "Customs" Agency, which is leading in this operation, refrains from commenting until all checks are completed. They promise to announce the results.
