The increase in the quotations of the main grain commodities on the world grain markets continued this week, report the experts of the Sofia Commodity Exchange ( SSB), broadcast BTA. It is mainly due to the fear of drought in Russia.
The FOB Chicago bread wheat price jumped another $9 to $258 a tonne for June delivery and France added €18 to €237 a tonne. Ukraine and Russia remained unchanged at 206 and 230 dollars per ton, respectively.
The movement in corn, which was also affected in the upward direction a few days ago, is more selective. In the US, the price rose by $1 to $201 per ton, and in France – by 6 euros to 201 euros per ton. As with wheat, in Russia the price has not changed and continues to be 185 dollars per ton.
The price of barley in Ukraine stagnated again at the level of $183 per ton for delivery in June. Rapeseed of "Euronex" (Euronext), after long and even sensitive up-and-down swings since March, and a previous sensitive upward surge, is now back down by minus 7.50 euros to 473.50 euros per tonne.
Crude sunflower oil contracts on the Rotterdam Stock Exchange have seen a flurry of swings since the start of the year, and for July delivery this week moved sharply higher by $35 to $1,005 a tonne. Refined sugar is clearly unable to overcome previous record lows and this week again suffered a noticeable loss of $39.40 for August delivery, reaching $536.20 a tonne on the London Stock Exchange.
At the Sofia Commodity Exchange, trade in the "Grain" sub-district remains calm and quotes were mostly unchanged. Bread wheat was offered in large quantities at BGN 388 per ton, with delivery to buyer (DAP), and there were no buyers. Forage barley is being sought from 310 to 330 BGN per ton, and offers "sell" for oilseed sunflower, they show offers of 780 to 800 BGN per ton. Corn for immediate delivery is available in the range of BGN 330 to BGN 350 per ton.
The prices of basic commodities are stable at the same level as the initial prices. Oil in bottles is sold at BGN 2.20 per liter, as well as unrefined oil at BGN 1,750 per ton. The offer of yellow peas in big backs of one ton continues at a starting price of BGN 1,200 per ton.
This week, quantities of propane butane gas in the range from BGN 991.67 to BGN 1,070/thousand were sold at the SSB. l.
