The man who was injured yesterday in an accident near the Rila Lakes and was transported by helicopter is in a stable general condition, the head of the Emergency Department at the University General Hospital for Active Treatment (UMBAL) “St. George” told journalists. "He has spinal injuries, two broken vertebrae and two ribs. His entire left side is gutted - arm, forearm and ankle. He was operated on urgently by a neurosurgical team to stabilize the broken vertebrae. He has further operations to repair his broken limbs. We learned that he fell from a great height while climbing in the Rila Lakes region,” explained Dr. Atliev. He added that the information provided by the rescue teams was that the man fell from a height of about 20 meters.
