Local police officers who helped break up the island's welfare scheme are being rewarded

Today the Ministry of the Interior will reward the police officers who participated in uncovering the scheme to drain the British social system, NOVA reported.

Five Bulgarians were accused of orchestrating the theft of £54m. According to the Acting Minister of Internal Affairs, Kalin Stoyanov, over 2,000 people participated in the organization.

The scheme was broken up by investigators from Sofia and London, and according to the British media, the Bulgarian anti-mafia Vasil Panayotov is the person who noticed the illegal outflow of funds.
