The Sofia City Court received a request from Evelin Banev -Brendo, with which he wants to serve in Bulgaria the sentences handed down against him by Italy and Romania.
Yesterday it became clear that Banev went with a lawyer to the Central Sofia Prison at 7:30 in the morning to surrender. There he was detained and handed over to the General Directorate for Execution of Punishments.
In our country, Brendo has a 6-year prison sentence for participating in a criminal group and laundering money obtained from drug trafficking. The sentence is prison under a strict regime and has been implemented as of Monday, June 24.
In addition, however, he has 2 more convictions – 20 years in Italy and 10 years in Romania, again because of drugs in the “Cocaine Kings” affair. These punishments have not been carried out and now Banev insists on serving them in our country.
For such a thing to happen, there must be agreement from the authorities of both countries. If such is given, the sentence will be adapted according to the rules in our country.
