GERB: We demand the resignation of the deputy mayor for transport in Sofia

Mr. Terziev and his team will not achieve nothing about Sofia. The deputy mayor Pavlov, who should be responsible for transport and road safety, has abdicated his position in recent months and is doing stupidity after stupidity. We want his resignation! We insist that Mayor Vasil Terziev also appear at an extraordinary meeting of the Transport Commission on Monday, July 22, 2024. "Since February, a decision has been submitted by the chairman of the Sofia Municipal Council, Tsvetomir Petrov, for Deputy Mayor Iliyan Pavlov to head the Council for the Safety of Children's Traffic in Sofia. In April we supported a more than 4-fold increase in the Council's budget - from £72k to £300k. But what happened to the road safety playgrounds that our 10-year-olds have been using? Usually, in the month of June, the proposals for them are accepted by the directors of schools and kindergartens, the BCHK and various NGOs from the sector. It is already July, not a single meeting of this Council has been held, and since February Pavlov has not bothered to even convene it. Accordingly, there is not a single proposal for them,” said the chairman of the Committee on Internal Order and Security Vanya Tagareva.

And he added: "However, we see what kind of chaos Pavlov is creating with non-transparent spending of public funds, as well as with approving an illegal organization." Due to all of the above, we from GERB-SDS once again demand the resignation of Deputy Mayor Iliyan Pavlov.

The Chairman of the Commission for Economy and Property Proshko Proshkov asked if there was a pilot in the plane of the city of Sofia? "This has become a rhetorical question because it is obvious that there is not. We will ask the Transport Committee on Monday to hear Mayor Terziev in connection with the lack of business for road markings, signs, etc., whose contracts have expired, and as far as we know, the procedure for new tenders has not started. This means that it will not be possible to put up a new sign or mark for months. This is criminal unemployment,”, Proshkov was categorical.

The municipal councilor expressed doubt that Mayor Terziev would respond to the invitation for a hearing in the committee. In his words, the current administration can only “wash its hands” with the Municipal Council.

"SOS's decision from a month ago to allocate funds for transport has not yet been implemented, because there is no money in the accounts of the transport companies. It is our duty as good stewards to prevent the great catastrophe. From the requests to rescue Sofia, we came to the suspension of Sofia by the administration of the “saviors”, Proshkov also said.
