VMRO is against the project for a wind park of 400 decares in Zlatna Dobrudja

Wind generators are also harmful to bee colonies, because the vibrations disorient the bees

Nearly 450 decares of fertile agricultural land is planned for the construction of another wind farm in fertile Dobrudja. An investment intention envisages the construction of about 70 wind generators on the land of the municipality of General Toshevo. This territory is right along the route of the “Via Pontica”.

The VMRO warns about this.

"This is another “green“ a project that literally destroys hundreds of acres of fertile land in Bulgaria's granary. In the specific case, it is about agricultural lands of the 3rd and 4th category. It is planned that the fins will be 280 meters high, and 600-800 cubic meters of concrete will be poured for the foundation of each fin. Local residents, as well as farmers from the region, strongly oppose the idea.

From VMRO, we remind you that this territory is right on the route of “Via Pontica“ – from where the birds fly. The installation of wind turbines in the area of Shabla and Kavarna led to the literal disappearance of the flight of the quail, and many other species began to bypass these areas. The reason is clear – the noise and vibration from the fins. The MoEW should categorically oppose the construction of similar facilities in these areas, which disturb the natural migration of birds. Wind generators are also harmful to bee colonies, because the vibrations disorient the bees.

We also fully support the opinion of beekeepers from the region that wind generators are also harmful to bee colonies, because the vibrations disorient the bees."

From VMRO we express our full support for the protest of local residents and farmers. We are categorical that this project must be rejected immediately and unconditionally by the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Ministry of Health. We will carefully monitor the institutions with what opinions they come out with on the case. It is high time in Bulgaria to start respecting the voice of the citizens. We also pose a question to the Ministry of Education and Culture: What are the effects of the already built wind farms along the Northern Black Sea coast? Has anyone investigated why, just after their construction, the bird migration route along the “Via Pontica” suddenly changed?

From VMRO, we do not dispute the need for investments, including in energy, we do not dispute the need to develop private initiative, but things must happen in the interest of the people and as sparingly as possible for the Bulgarian nature. Not everything can be at all costs and to the detriment of local communities!
