ITN nominates Dr. Velislava Petrova for European Commissioner

Bulgaria will most likely receive the portfolio of innovations

ITN nominates Dr. Velislava Petrova as a candidate for European Commissioner. This was stated by the deputy chairman of the "There is such a people" parliamentary group. Stanislav Balabanov at a briefing in the parliament, reported a reporter of "Focus".

Dr. Velislava Petrova is a former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. She has experience in the United Nations, the World Bank and other international organizations.

"Bulgaria has a new caretaker government as of today. According to the Constitution, it must organize the next early elections. In addition, it is charged with one more responsibility - to propose the new European Commissioner", said Balabanov.

"The official government must approach this case in an extremely statesmanlike manner. The Bulgarian European Commissioner must be the face of the country before the European Union and the European institutions. He must be a decent person and have the necessary qualities for this position. He must be a professional who can work in an international environment and represent Bulgaria," he added.

According to ITN, in the current political situation in the country, Bulgaria will most likely receive the department of innovation, scientific research, culture, education and youth. This was precisely the portfolio of the Bulgarian European Commissioner in the last mandate of the European Commission.
