BTV viewers are warning about the terrible condition of the road section between Mezdra and the village of Moravitsa. It is municipal, but for several months it has been used as a bypass route by thousands of drivers in the North-West due to the E-79 being closed for modernization. Craters and crumbling pavement are a prerequisite for traffic jams and accidents.
With the reorganization of traffic, more than 10,000 vehicles pass through here per day, half of them trucks. Due to their weight, the track collapses even more.
„It is very nice, this is our country, the most failed in the world after the African and part of the Asian ones. We are the last in the world, I am an international driver and I have traveled all over Europe, there is no worse country than this one, says one of the drivers.
In order to avoid the pits, cars often enter the oncoming traffic, drivers say. Accidents haven't happened yet, but cars break down every day, victims say. Traffic from and to Sofia, to and from Zlatna Panega to Vidin and Oryahovo passes through the section in question. Buses also run.
The police are also raising the alarm about the situation with the bypass route.
“The condition of the road there is under all criticism, a warning letter has been prepared,” says chief inspector Hristo Dimitrov, head of the "Road Police"- Vratsa.
In response to bTV, API informs that their responsibility is the republican roads, and this one belongs to the municipality of Mezdra and the responsibility for repair and maintenance is its responsibility. Attempts even just to mark pedestrian paths, let alone to patch potholes, led to extreme tension, says the mayor of Mezdra, Ivan Asparuhov.
“We made an attempt and we were going to beat people, there is no stopping this movement, we have no gap to do it. With this intense movement, it is simply impossible to work”, says Asparuhov.
An inspection of the most difficult sections was carried out. Options are being considered, but most likely repairs will require traffic to be temporarily stopped for several hours and rerouted along other routes. However, there will be a result within ten days, the local authorities promise.
