Tsvetanov: Political formations in parliament cannot formulate priorities, follow them and implement them

"In the last four years, all parliaments, all parliamentary majorities and all caretaker and regular governments have made the PVP a top priority. We see that the government states that, based on the assessment given by the European Commission, we are giving up eight areas for projects worth over 1 billion leva," commented the leader of "Republicans for Bulgaria"

The government is by no means stable, but it was clear to everyone that this vote would not pass. This was said by the leader of "Republicans for Bulgaria", former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Tsvetan Tsvetanov in the "Metronome" program on Radio "Focus".

The opposition is currently heterogeneous and fragmented, he noted. "This is an additional guarantee for the stability of the government. Everything is so changeable, the emotion in political parties is so strongly expressed and this leads to the sabotage of good policies that can consolidate the parties“, commented Tsvetanov.

"The political formations in parliament cannot formulate priorities, follow them and implement them", he said and gave the example of the Recovery and Resilience Plan and the European programs. A huge problem, according to him, is the inability to catch up on the PVP.

"In the last four years, all parliaments, all parliamentary majorities and all caretaker and regular governments have made the PVP a top priority. We see that the government is stating that, based on the assessment given by the European Commission, we are giving up eight directions for projects worth over 1 billion leva. This means that this money for transformations and sectoral policies must come from the republican budget and an increase in the state debt“, Tsvetan Tsvetanov pointed out.

According to him, the constantly decreasing voter turnout in recent years shows a huge vacuum in the political space. According to him, this can provoke serious public sentiments “and form a fan of electoral support for something new, which would be radically different from what we have today“. “If the current political formations do not realize the importance and responsibility they bear, I think there may be a radically changed political picture“, believes Tsvetan Tsvetanov.

According to the leader of “Republicans for Bulgaria“ all parties outside the parliament and those inside it must find a common platform that will be the basis for the unification of a future parliamentary group that will receive broad electoral support. "So that reforms can be made that everyone talks about, but no one implements them, because some measures that need to be taken are painful. There are many reasons to form such a union. You see what is happening with the European Prosecutor's Office and what are the potential accusations against high levels in the state administration – against the former Minister of Energy and long-time director of "Bulgartransgaz". The European Prosecutor's Office saw extremely serious problems in the way the public procurement was structured and conducted, the finalization and awarding," Tsvetanov gave an example.
