Dyankov: Why is money being given to Sofia Municipality at the expense of taxpayers in the country

Prime Minister Zhelyazkov pointed out that in practice it is necessary to take funds from other budget items in order to supplement the subsidy to the Sofia Municipality

Populism has also shown itself in this government. Why is money being given to Sofia Municipality at the expense of all taxpayers in the country? This question was asked on his Facebook profile by former Finance Minister and head of the Fiscal Council Simeon Dyankov.

Earlier today, the government announced that it would allocate 15 million leva to Sofia to stop the public transport strike, which began on May 14. This was announced by Rosen Zhelyazkov, who during the day held talks with Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev and representatives of the Confederation of Bulgarian Trade Unions and Trade Unions “Podkrepa”. The talks also included Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova.

The cabinet will secure the necessary funds for the current year by restructuring expenditures in the central budget. Prime Minister Zhelyazkov pointed out that in practice, funds will have to be taken from other budget items to supplement the subsidy to the Sofia Municipality.

Later, the Confederation of Bulgarian Trade Unions announced that the basic salaries of public transport workers would be increased by 300 leva, which is sufficient to satisfy the workers' demands.
