This is not the budget I stand for, Mayor Vasil Terziev said about the proposed draft budget of Sofia for 2025 at a briefing at the Sofia Municipal Council (SOC), BTA reports.
Yesterday, the Standing Committee on Budget and Finance at the SOC adopted a proposal by the "Save Sofia" group to include 24 sites worth 21 million leva in the budget of the Sofia Municipality.
Yesterday at ten to six, GERB, BSP, "Save Sofia" and Carlos Contrera read a list of changes in the budget to be included in the Capital Program and reshaped the budget, Terziev said. "You can see the definition of the word "hypocrisy", he pointed out. According to him, with this reshaping of the budget, the implementation of many projects will not be possible. We are introducing a long list of projects that our colleagues from the administration cannot even process, so that we have something to vote on today, the mayor motivated his disagreement with the proposals.
They accuse us of a lack of dialogue, after most of them have stubbornly refused talks and have not made proposals during these months, the mayor said about his colleagues from the other groups in the SOS. He pointed out that the BSP always votes against the budget, and today they will support it. This is a budget that I do not agree with, the Sofia mayor said. He said that a new chapter in political hypocrisy is opening. The Sofia mayor pointed out that the draft budget was published a month or so ago and now changes are being made at the last minute.
According to Terziev, the municipal councilors from the group of "Continuing the Change - Democratic Bulgaria" will vote today against the budget with the proposals made in this way. We are talking about dialogue, and no one has talked to us about the revenue part and whether that is possible or not, Terziev pointed out. The Theater of the Absurd will have a new performance today, he added.
Today you are attending the political flea market, at which the economic majority and Boyko Borisov once again shopped for political groups and municipal councilors, Deputy Mayor Ivan Vassilev addressed the media at the briefing. Recent opponents such as "Save Sofia" and GERB will vote together today and will make a mess of the budget and transport. And this is for the sake of Sofia residents to suffer, said Vassilev. In his words, no one is addressing the city's problems, "everyone is throwing money from the 17th floor at a political headquarters". Vassilev called on all free municipal councilors to vote against the proposals of GERB, "Save Sofia", Carlos Contrera and other "button pushers".
