Yesterday the Sofia budget was adopted - with scandals, mutual accusations, reshuffles and many unknowns.
The topic was commented on by Boris Bonev, who left the PP-DB coalition - “Save Sofia“ and voted with GERB and BSP.
“What we did is that we acted responsibly. We adopted Vasil Terziev's budget with slight adjustments - something that has absolutely always happened“, he was categorical.
“Let me remind you that last year the Sofia budget was adopted with the votes of GERB and at the time this was described as a great success. What has changed a year later? – Nothing“, he explained further.
“These are storms in a teacup. People are absolutely not interested in who is accusing whom, because we do this all the time. What they are interested in is that there is a budget. The fact that there is a budget means that Sofia's projects can be done, that they will not stop garbage collection and cleaning, as the deputy mayor for finance was afraid. Now there is a budget – there will also be cleaning“, said Bonev.
According to him, many of the public procurements are already ready for operation.
“I have been an opponent of GERB for 15 years, but for me, what is always much more important is whether there will be results for Sofia residents. I believe that given that there were no agreements with GERB and we clearly stated that if our 24 projects are included in this project, we will support it - and they were included, I have no moral scruples or concerns. I am proud that “Save Sofia“ is participating not in creating a new problem for Sofia residents, but in solving one”, he explained further.
