The national external assessment in mathematics for tenth graders will take place today in 1,022 schools across the country. The exam starts at 8:00 a.m., the press center of the Ministry of Education and Science (MES) announced.
As BTA reported, the national external assessment in tenth grade Bulgarian language and literature (BEL) took place on June 13. The exams last 90 minutes, with 30 minutes more provided for students with special educational needs (SEN).
The Mathematics Exam contains a total of 17 tasks: 15 multiple-choice tasks (with four possible answers, of which only one is correct) and two tasks with an extended free answer, for which the student presents the necessary justifications in writing. The curriculum covers the material from the eighth, ninth and tenth grades, including topics in algebra, functions, plane and spatial geometry, trigonometry, probability and combinatorics, statistics and data analysis, logic and mathematical modeling. During the exam, students can use the provided formula sheets.
The Bulgarian language and literature test contained a total of 21 tasks: 13 with multiple-choice answers, five with short free answers, a text editing task, a thesis or antithesis formulation task, and a text creation task (summary, application or autobiography). The curriculum covers the material from the eighth, ninth and tenth grades, and includes topics related to functional styles, language norms, text editing, as well as the studied literary works of Bulgarian literature.
Over 55,000 students are expected to appear for the national external assessment. They take the exams at the schools they attend. The maximum score is 100 on each exam, and the results will be announced by July 1.
