Kiril Petkov: A special operation is underway to control the people from the PP and we must respond

The party's Control Council, where signals should be received, has not received a signal from anyone about any irregularity. We first heard about the allegations about public procurement from them through the media

We will take real measures in the party so that we are sure that breakthroughs of this type will not happen. This was stated to journalists by the co-chairman of “Continue the Change“ (PP) Kiril Petkov, who, together with his colleague Asen Vassilev, met with the leaders of the “Democratic Bulgaria” (DB) coalition. The coalition council took place at the headquarters of “Continue the Change”. After the meeting with the media, the leaders of the DB stated that they expect a clear plan for changes in their personnel policy from the PP.

The mayors of the metropolitan areas of “Mladost“ and “Lyulin“ and two municipal councilors from “Continue the Change“ yesterday announced that they were leaving “Continue the Change“ on the grounds that the party had put pressure on them. On July 12, a National Council of “Continue the Change” is due to be held on the case. In addition to a meeting with their coalition partners, the DB from “Continue the Change” also held an Executive Council of the party. Kiril Petkov stated that after the meeting, it became clear that no signals were submitted to the party's control bodies and no one from the PP Executive Council received a signal about any irregularity with the public procurements in "Lyulin" and "Mladost".

"Neither the municipal councilors nor the district mayors have contacted any of the members of the Executive Council," Petkov commented.

"In the party's Control Council, where signals should be received, no signal was received from anyone about any irregularity. This is the first time we heard about the allegations about the public procurements from them in the media. The big question here is why they didn't at least try to communicate, if there were such problems. If someone was pressured, let them say all the information publicly. There should be no evasions," Petkov appealed.

He assured that no company associated with a deputy from “We continue the change“ has submitted or won a public procurement contract in “Mladost“ and “Lyulin“.

"What we see and must admit is that a special operation is underway to control the people from “We continue the change“ and we see that there must be an institutional response in our party, said Petkov.

Regarding the criticisms of their coalition partners from the DB, Asen Vassilev stated that the personnel policy of all young parties makes mistakes.

"This is not something new in Bulgarian politics, it has reached us too,“ he added and again emphasized that no one has signaled corruption in public procurement. "We do not believe that there is corruption in the PP. This must be investigated in order to be proven", added Vassilev. According to him, the group of municipal councilors will not disintegrate and they do not expect any more to leave.
