The Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into a corruption crime in the Sofia Municipality. Two district mayors and two municipal councilors left "We Continue the Change" (PP) and made revelations.
"We Continue the Change" is no longer a young party. It has been on the political scene for 4-5 years. From the moment of its establishment until today, its entire political life has been connected with scandals along the same lines - violation of the Constitution, violation of laws, corruption. What we heard yesterday are scandals about exercising internal party pressure on district mayors, who must carry out actions in favor of one or another company, close to a senior party official of the PP," commented journalist Valeria Veleva on the program "Denyat ON AIR".
According to her, Deputy Mayor of Sofia Nikola Barbutov is one of the major sponsors of the PP and has "deserved" his post. thanks to the money he invested.
"PP is the only party whose leadership has focused on the judicial system - Kiril Petkov, Asen Vassilev, Lena Borislavova, Bozhidar Bozanov", Veleva specified.
Is PP collapsing?
Former MEP Petar Vitanov highlighted three main disappointments with the emergence of PP.
"On the one hand, the disappointed hopes - the expectations that some new party could become an alternative to the then government. Second - the negative personnel selection. The third is that they legitimized people who were considered to have lost credibility and legitimacy in politics. "They are trying to create a gap between the PP and the DB," Vitanov explained to Bulgaria ON AIR.
The PP is already becoming a toxic party for anyone who enters a coalition with them, and the DB is aware of this, Veleva also pointed out.
The discussed project of President Radev
"In recent years, we have been talking about this presidential project that will emerge and lead the political class. The question is about time - whether President Radev will decide that he needs to jump into the party battle now, or will he wait for his mandate to expire. I don't think Radev will jump now. There will be no early elections after January 1,"," the journalist predicts.
Is society divided on the threshold of the euro
"For those in power, entering the Eurozone is a general goal. There will also be negative effects, which are already present - related to rising prices," Vitanov analyzes.
Veleva expressed the opinion that the government cannot be blamed for all the negatives accumulated over the years.
"As for Spetsov, he came out quite unprepared and frivolously threw out this figure. Those in power should be aware that the topic of prices is a painful topic for society. The biggest danger facing this government is that they will not be able to control people's fears,", Veleva is categorical.
