EU Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration Magnus Brunner is visiting Bulgaria today, the European Commission Representation in Bulgaria announced.

In Sofia, he will meet with Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov and Minister of Interior Daniel Mitov to discuss the Pact on Migration and Asylum, migration management, Bulgaria's Schengen integration and border management.
Later in the day, Commissioner Brunner, Minister Mitov and Greek Deputy Minister for Migration and Asylum Sevi Voloudaki will visit the Kulata – Promahon border crossing. The three will then cross together into Greece, marking the free movement without border checks in Schengen, the statement said.
The Pact on Migration and Asylum was adopted on 14 May 2024. The reform of the Pact on Migration and Asylum aims to: ease the burden on EU countries where most migrants arrive, offer a fairer and more efficient framework for registering and processing asylum applications, help reduce secondary movements, according to information on the European Council website.
