Polish lifeguards are working on Harmanite beach in Sozopol. They are young, smiling and in good sports shape. They are six boys and one girl who came from Poland to work in a team with Bulgarian lifeguards on Harmanite beach in Sozopol, bTV reported.

"They were carefully selected among candidates from Poland who have experience and skills as lifeguards, have knowledge of English… They are very brave, because it takes courage to take your backpack and come to Bulgaria, to work in an unknown country, in an unfamiliar environment. They are special, they are some of the best lifeguards in Poland and I am proud to have them on my team“, says Robert Staron, senior lifeguard.

Each of them has a personal story that brought him to the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. Cuba traveled for six days by bike from Poland to Sozopol. Jerzy liked our country so much that he bought a house here and learned Bulgarian.

"I was a swimmer, I really like the sea and I've been to Bulgaria several times, I really like the country", says Jerzy Bodrata, a lifeguard.

"All these guys support me and help me, people see this and I think they're happy that there's a girl lifeguard on the beach. I like to help people, to make them feel nice and safe on the beach", says Patricia Dombrovska.

A few days ago they got into a serious situation when a woman started drowning.

"The moment we watched them, we left - I was the first, then the other colleague Mateos and finally the third. At first we checked whether she was breathing or not, but fortunately everything was fine. The beach here is quite dangerous, but fortunately we have a very good team and everyone does everything well“, explains Bodrata.

"The most important thing is the team, because with us there is no me, there is only us - we are responsible for the actions, we are responsible for our safety… One person cannot save the whole world, we have to be a strong team. Our main goal is to make sure that all tourists - Bulgarian and foreign, get home safely", points out Robert Staron, senior lifeguard.

"Above all, this is their self-discipline, they are responsible enough and know what they are on the beach for“, says Ivan Georgiev from the Institute of Water Safety.

The friendly young people impress the vacationers.

"We have been here for three or four days with my family and my children and I am impressed by how well organized they are. I see them following the rules, not only for those in the water, but also for the boats. If they need each other, they communicate quite well and things go well, says Kiril Damyanov.

The Polish rescuers will work in our country for a month, after the end of their shift they will be replaced by other compatriots.
