Despite the apology of the chairman of the PG of “Ima takvi narod“ Toshko Yordanov, despite the apology of the leader of “Ima takvi narod“ Slavi Trifonov, the words of the first one who sent our young doctors to the villages of Sicily and wished them success still have a strong resonance in the medical profession.

The former Minister of Health, Dr. Petar Moskov, speaks about young doctors and the honor of the profession in the program “120 minutes“.

“I like to talk about serious things, and I think that by talking about Mr. Yordanov and his words, we are doing something like talking about the black panther. I say this to emphasize that this conversation is a bit sidetracked from the problems and solutions – neither Mr. Yordanov is the problem in itself, nor those like him can provide the solution. But it is important to evaluate what Mr. Yordanov said, not just as words – as a way of thinking.“, he said.

And he specified:

“There are two diagnoses that this thing gives – the first is the cynicism with which the authorities treat the individual. It is inherent in every leftist political force and is related to the fact that these people want to put pressure on you, on me, and when someone does not want to fit into this mold, they crush him. The second diagnosis is national nihilism“.

According to him, the problem of low pay for young doctors is part of a much larger problem and if considered in particular – a good solution will not be found.

„The problem is related to why we, as a society, give more and more money for healthcare, and in return, both workers and users of the system are more dissatisfied. There is money and it is getting more and more - this year it is almost a billion more, compared to last - but there is no efficiency, no meaningful spending of money, no state policy“, explained Dr. Moskov.

„Every year, when we, through our insurance, give more and more money, what the Fund does is with the new money, it signs a contract with yet another hospital. Thus, the existing hospitals remain with the same financial resources, and the new one goes to a place where someone has won the right“, he added.

And he proposed a solution:

“The health insurance company signs a contract with 100 of these 360 available hospitals. This means the following - where it says hospital, we are treated with what we need, and then when this need arises, and for those working there it means that the human resources, which are now scattered in a hundred places, will be concentrated in a hundred places, and the financial resources, which now satisfy the inherent costs of 340 hospitals, will be concentrated, and the salaries of those working there will be cosmic, compared to the current ones. This is the solution, everything else is a story about washing hands“.
