Boris Bonev: The property mafia has found someone to kill the reform for municipal housing

Hundreds of apartments for ridiculous prices, this is the property mafia and today the municipal council became a victim of this property mafia, he said

“The Sofia Municipal Council became a victim of the property mafia and the fear of reforms” said at a briefing to journalists in Sofia Municipality, the leader of “Save Sofia” Boris Bonev, after today the Sofia Municipal Council voted to postpone the consideration of the draft of a new regulation for municipal housing.

“In the coming weeks I will publish a list of apartments sold - what size, what prices they were sold at” announced Bonev. He indicated that in 2023 and 2024 he requested data from all regional administrations under the law on access to public information. “Hundreds of apartments for ridiculous prices, this is the property mafia and today the municipal council has become a victim of this property mafia and the fear of reforms rather than demonstrating responsibility to Sofia and its effective management of resources” he added.

“The ordinance was postponed with the votes of GERB, “We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria“, BSP, “Blue Sofia“, “There are such people“ and breakaway parties from “Vazrazhdane“ - pointed out Boris Bonev. According to him, municipal councilors suddenly remembered that they had remarks and concerns. “When their colleagues were co-sponsors of this ordinance, these concerns were not there, when they participated in the working groups &ndquo; these concerns were not there. For us, there is no doubt that the buttons for active sabotage have been pressed in order to prevent our desire to stop the sales of municipal housing,“ he added.

“The proposal made for another working group is sad. The Municipal Council does not solve problems, does not make decisions, but creates another working group, this can take years” - commented arch. Rositsa Nikolova, municipal councilor from “ Save Sofia” and submitter of the proposed new regulation.
