The acting Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Miroslav Rashkov will be proposed as the holder of the post during the meeting of the Council of Ministers on Wednesday. This was announced by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov, who confirmed that President Rumen Radev has already given his preliminary consent to the nomination, Nova TV reports.
According to him, the proposal is based on three main motives: the good work of the professional leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Rashkov's political neutrality and his potential to lead the structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, staying "far from political squabbles".
Zhelyazkov explained that the procedure for key appointments requires prior coordination with the head of state in order to "synchronize the views of the president and the government" on important issues for the country.
"We have long sent the names to the presidential institution. The good news is that the president has coordinated these names and tomorrow, with a decision of the Council of Ministers, we will propose them to him", said the Prime Minister. He specified that on Wednesday the proposals for new ambassadors will also be made, which have also received Radev's approval.
The only post for which a decision is still expected from the head of state is that of chairman of the State Agency "National Security" (DANS). "We are still waiting for the president to make a statement regarding the coordination with the proposal for chairman of DANS", added Zhelyazkov.
