With the beginning of the new political season comes the regular quarterly increase in salaries for people in power, writes NOVA.

The reason is that the incomes of senior state officials are tied to the average salary in the public sector and change every quarter.

The basic remuneration of deputies is formed as the triple amount of the average salary in the public sector, reported by the National Statistical Institute (NSI). For June, the NSI reported a value of 2,645 leva.

This means that in the next three months the basic salary of the elected representatives will be almost 8,000 leva. Compared to the previous quarter, the increase is nearly 800 leva. It is important to note that this amount does not include the allowances for participation in committees.

The salary of the Speaker of the National Assembly, which is 55% higher than that of a deputy, will exceed 12,000 leva per month.

The increase compared to the previous three months is over 1,200 leva. The Prime Minister receives the same basic salary as the Speaker of Parliament, with a difference in the final amounts due to allowances for length of service and scientific titles.

The president's salary remains the highest. The head of state receives two basic parliamentary salaries, which means that his monthly income now reaches almost 16,000 leva. The increase compared to the previous quarter is 1,600 leva, to which the percentages for length of service are also added.
