The bronze statue of US President Donald Trump holding hands with accused child molester Jeffrey Epstein, placed opposite the Capitol, was removed a day later, Axios reported.
It was previously reported that the sculpture could remain on Capitol Hill until Sunday evening with a permit issued by the National Park Service.
Epstein was arrested by New York state law enforcement on July 6, 2019. Prosecutors said they had evidence that between 2002 and 2005, he received dozens of underage girls at his Manhattan home, the youngest of whom was 14 years old. Epstein's circle of friends and acquaintances included a large number of current and former officials not only from the United States but also from many other countries, including former heads of state, prominent businessmen and celebrities from the world of entertainment.
The criminal prosecution against the financier in the United States was discontinued after his suicide in his prison cell on August 10, 2019.
