The American leader emphasizes that the lack of purchases by China is hurting farmers and will be discussed at the talks in South Korea.

US President Donald Trump said that soybean trade will be one of the main topics of his upcoming meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, which is scheduled for four weeks, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

"Soybean producers in our country are being affected because China, just for negotiation reasons, is not buying", Trump wrote on the social network "Truth Social".

Chinese importers have not yet purchased soybeans from the fall harvest in the United States due to trade tensions between Washington and Beijing, which have cost American farmers billions of dollars in losses. Fall is usually a key selling season for U.S. soybeans as farmers harvest and buyers await shipments from Brazil.

China, the world's largest soybean importer, has turned to South America for supplies, shunning U.S. exports, putting pressure on prices on the Chicago Soybean Exchange.

Last month, Trump said he had made progress on a trade deal with China during a phone call with Xi Jinping and that their next face-to-face meeting would be in South Korea. Topics include trade, the fight against drug trafficking and the war in Ukraine.
