Belgium will invest half a billion euros in anti-drone systems, local media reported, citing data from the Ministry of Defense, BTA reports.

In recent weeks, drones have been registered in the country near military sites, a nuclear power plant, a nuclear research center and several airports.

In response, the authorities have approved an emergency plan worth 50 million euros, with the media specifying that a significantly larger investment is coming - about ten times more, to fully equip the armed forces with means to counter drones. This includes technologies for jamming signals, detecting, tracking, intercepting and destroying unmanned aircraft.

The Ministry of Defense has already signed a contract with a Latvian company for the supply of new "drone hunter" systems designed to neutralize enemy remotely controlled devices. It is also planned to acquire specialized guns for shooting down drones, as well as implement artificial intelligence for analyzing and assessing security risks.
