Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said today that the planned peace summit in Budapest is already looming on the “horizon“ and that the next two to three weeks will be crucial for the development of the war in Ukraine. This was reported by the Hungarian news agency MTI, BTA reports.
In an interview with national radio, Orban said that the United States has finalized its 28-point peace plan, which includes proposals from both Washington and Moscow. He specified that the document has been officially confirmed and submitted to the Ukrainian authorities, and the first reactions from Kiev are expected soon.
“There are two or three crucial weeks ahead“, Orbán emphasized, adding that preparations for the peace meeting in Budapest are progressing.
Regarding the corruption scandal that has erupted in Ukraine, Orbán commented that two main conclusions can be drawn from it. First - a significant part of the financial resources provided by Europe and the United States have been diverted and have not reached their intended beneficiaries. And second - in his opinion, Europe does not have a sufficiently reliable control mechanism to monitor the use of international financial assistance.
