Iran has executed a man accused of spying for Israel, Reuters reported, citing information from the Iranian judiciary news agency "Mizan", which reported that his name was Kourosh Keyvani, BTA reported.

The man was found "guilty of providing photos and information about sensitive sites in Iran to the Israeli spy agency Mossad," according to the same source.

In a decades-long covert war with Israel, Iran has executed many accused of having ties to Mossad and facilitating its operations in the country.

Meanwhile, Iran's Supreme National Security Council confirmed the death of its leader Ali Larijani, whose assassination Israel had previously reported last night, Agence France-Presse reported.

Ali Larijani "received the sweet grace of martyrdom," the council said in a statement, adding that Larijani's son and several of his bodyguards were also killed.

The funerals for Larijani, as well as for General Gholamreza Soleimani, who led the Basij paramilitary force and was also killed by Israel last night, will be held this morning in central Tehran, along with those of the servicemen from the Iranian frigate sunk by the United States on March 4 off the coast of Sri Lanka, the Fars and Tasnim news agencies reported.

According to the Fars news agency, Larijani was attacked by "American and Israeli fighter jets at his daughter's home."
