Hundreds of people took to the streets of Oldenburg to show solidarity with the Jewish community in the northern German city after the attack on the local synagogue earlier this week, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.

Police are investigating after an unknown assailant threw an incendiary device against the synagogue's door on Friday afternoon. A fire ensued, but it was quickly seen by employees of a neighboring cultural center who extinguished the flames. No one was injured, but authorities are still searching for the suspects.

According to police estimates, around 400 people took part in today's demonstration organized by the Alliance Against Anti-Semitism and Anti-Zionism in Oldenburg. People gathered in a central square, only about 100 meters from the synagogue. Demonstrators waved Israeli flags and held placards with slogans against anti-Semitism.

Chair of Oldenburg Jewish Community Group Claire Schaub-Moore thanked citizens for the strong support the Jewish community has received since the attack.
