Beijing rejects Berlin accusations of espionage

Three people suspected of working for Chinese secret services were detained in western Germany

The Chinese embassy in Berlin strongly rejects accusations of espionage made by Germany after the arrest in the western part of the country of three people suspected of having worked for the Chinese secret services, the Chinese state news agency Xinhua reported today, as quoted by AFP and BTA.

"We ask the German side to stop using the accusations of espionage to politically manipulate China's image and to defame the country," the embassy said in a statement to the Xinhua news agency.
