"The transfer of Sergei Shoigu to the Security Council of Russia is a signal that Vladimir Putin views the institution as a "political space for detention,", writes Russian political analyst Tatyana Stanovaya, FOCUS reported.

Tatiana Stanovaya, Senior Research Associate at the Carnegie Center on Russia and Eurasia, states in his material on the Internet that the (Security) Council is becoming a "repository for "former key figures" of Putin - people whom he cannot let go, but for whom there is no place".

In posts on X, Stanovaya also stated that Andrei Belousov was a "logical choice" as Putin seeks to increase arms production and meet military needs.

But she thinks that despite the "surprising" relocations, which according to her are not at an end, "the overall policy of the Russian leadership and decision-making mechanisms will remain unchanged".
