As the Ukrainian army continues to advance into Russia's Kursk region, the president of the federation Vladimir Putin visited Chechnya for the first time since 2011 and kissed the Koran.
During his visit to Grozny, Putin kissed the holy book for Muslims in the company of Ramzan Kadyrov, who remains loyal to the power in the Kremlin.
Chechen forces were sent to stop the Ukrainian army in the Kursk region, but were defeated by the Ukrainian special forces, and according to various reports dozens of fighters of “Akhmat“ were captured.
Ramzan Kadyrov remains loyal to Putin, even though Chechnya was bloodied by the Russian army during the two Chechen wars.
According to Kadyrov, Putin began his visit by visiting the grave of his father and predecessor at the head of Chechnya, Akhmat Kadyrov. In the 1990s and the first decade of the present, Chechnya experienced two bloody conflicts pitting Russian federal forces against separatist Islamist rebels. Since 2007, this Russian republic has been ruled by Ramzan Kadyrov, whose security forces have been accused of numerous human rights violations.
