The British Parliament resumes its work today after perhaps the shortest summer vacation in decades, BNR reported .
Keir Starmer's government will push ahead with its “busy legislative agenda”, a senior UK cabinet minister has promised, before MPs enter the House of Commons and Lords respectively after just a month's break.
Lucy Powell, leader of the House of Commons, said the Prime Minister and his cabinet were ready to “roll up their sleeves” to “build a better Britain”. “This new Labor government is full of energy, full of ideas and eager to deliver on our mandate for change. That is why we have announced a full legislative agenda focused on people's priorities," she added.
During the week, many draft laws will indeed be submitted for discussion, including the second reading and the one to create a new state energy company. In mid-September, however, parliament will again be dissolved for a long time as the season of annual party congresses begins.
