US President Donald Trump's potential visit to Saudi Arabia, which could take place in the coming weeks, is not connected to Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was stated by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, quoted by Agence France-Presse, BTA reports.

“At this stage, no meeting between the two leaders is planned“, Peskov categorically emphasized.

Earlier this week, Trump announced that he was considering a visit to Saudi Arabia, which would be his first official trip abroad since returning to the White House in January.

In February, he hinted at a possible meeting with Putin in Saudi Arabia, but did not specify a specific date. Since then, the kingdom has established itself as a diplomatic hub, hosting talks on the war in Ukraine.

However, according to Peskov, the Russian president "currently has no plans" for such a meeting.

"Nothing has been finally agreed - neither a date nor a place for a possible meeting between Putin and Trump," he explained, adding that contacts between Moscow and Washington continue at various levels and through various channels.

Donald Trump has strengthened his ties with Moscow since his re-instatement, although he sometimes criticizes and warns his Russian counterpart, AFP notes.

The last official meeting between the two leaders took place in 2018 in Helsinki during Trump's first term as US president.
