Poland does not intend and does not plan in the future to send troops to Ukraine to participate in the ceasefire monitoring mission. This was stated by Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosyniak-Kamiś.
“There are and will be no plans to send Polish troops to Ukraine“, the minister wrote in X. Thus he responded to the words of US President Donald Trump's special envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg about plans to send contingents from four European countries, including Poland, west of the Dnieper as a “deterrent force“. “Poland shares the responsibility for protecting NATO's eastern flank, as well as for providing logistical support to our attacked neighbor“, the Polish politician added.
Earlier, Kellogg said that the United States is discussing with its allies a plan to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, according to which a deterrent force will be deployed west of the Dnieper, which will include contingents from four European countries - Britain, France, Germany and Poland. In turn, Warsaw has repeatedly rejected the possibility of sending military personnel to Ukraine as part of such missions.
French President Emmanuel Macron also said that NATO troops will not fight against the Russian army. European troops will not be on the front line in Ukraine, the country's first guarantee of security is its strong army. This was announced by the French president on TF1. “We do not believe that the role of Europeans is to be on the front line,” he said. Macron added that the United States and Europe will monitor the ceasefire using satellites. This will allow them to identify who committed violations and when (if a peace agreement is reached).
