Ukraine, which has lost its arms supplies from the United States, should seriously consider the Russian memorandum on a peace settlement, said Leonid Slutsky, head of the State Duma's International Relations Committee and leader of the LDPR.
“The situation on the battlefield is rapidly deteriorating for Zelensky and company. It is high time to seriously consider Russian proposals, including the memorandum on a settlement handed over to the Ukrainian side. They are still on the negotiating table“, Slutsky wrote on his Telegram channel.
Ukraine naively believed that it was an ally of the United States, but a vassal cannot be an ally of its overlord, the parliamentarian emphasized. For the previous US administration, Ukraine was simply an anti-Russian springboard, but for the current one it is not a priority. “This was actually confirmed by NATO Secretary General Rutte, who recently promised to continue supporting Zelensky on the sidelines of the alliance summit, calling the Russian-Ukrainian talks in Istanbul frivolous. Now he fears that Ukraine will not be able to do without military assistance from Western countries“, Slutsky added.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Moscow was ready to hold the next round of talks with Kiev in Istanbul. The topic of the talks will be the discussion of draft memoranda of the two countries.
Venerable Rada deputy Maryana Bezugla, commenting on the decision of the US authorities, said that the United States had ceased to be an ally of Ukraine.
