Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky commented on the telephone conversation between his American and Russian counterparts Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, UNIAN reports.

According to him, the two leaders are very different people who do not have a common language.

Zelensky stated this at a joint press conference with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, European Council President António Costa and European Commission (EC) President Ursula von der Leyen.

"Regarding this dialogue, the telephone conversation between Trump and Putin - I am not sure that they have many common ideas, common topics for discussion, because they are very different people," the head of state expressed his opinion.

At the same time, he added that if we are talking about Ukraine, then its authorities have supported Trump's idea of an unconditional ceasefire from the very beginning.

"I have repeatedly said that we are ready for any format of the meeting, and I think that in Russia only Putin is the one who makes real decisions", Zelensky said.

We recall that Trump and Zelensky will hold a telephone conversation dedicated to the suspension of US military supplies to Ukraine. The conversation is scheduled for Friday, July 4, but the exact date and time can still be changed.

Putin and Trump had a telephone conversation lasting nearly an hour, reported Yuri Ushakov, an aide to the Russian head of state. According to him, the conversation was "businesslike and specific", with both sides "speaking on the same wavelength".

The aide to the Russian president added that the negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul will remain bilateral, without external mediation. No specific dates have yet been discussed for the next, third round of these talks.

The two leaders last spoke by phone on June 14. One of the main topics then was the escalation between Israel and Iran. They also discussed bilateral relations and Ukraine. Putin congratulated Trump on his birthday - the American leader turned 79.
