Ukrainian authorities reported a total of five people injured in Russian airstrikes in Kiev region and Kharkiv city, Ukrinform reported, quoted by BTA.
Russia and Ukraine attack each other with drones practically every night. Recently, Russian attacks have become increasingly massive, with over 300 drones sent against the neighboring country last night.
Three people were injured in the Kiev region, reported early today on "Telegram" the head of the regional military administration Mykola Kalashnik.
Two people, including a child, were injured in a massive drone attack on Kharkiv, his colleague at the head of the regional military administration Oleg Sinegubov informed in the same communication application.
Ukrainian authorities also reported material damage in the southeastern city of Zaporizhia and explosions in Nikolaev, in the southwest.
A threat of drone attacks has been announced in several Russian regions, TASS reported.
A suspected Russian intelligence agent was detained for the "terrorist attack" in Odessa yesterday morning, Ukrinform reported, quoted by BTA, referring to the press center of the Security Service of Ukraine.
The suspect was arrested by representatives of the Service and the National Police. He was presented in the communiqué as a 22-year-old, convicted resident of the city of Zaporozhye, who was recruited on "Telegram". Investigators found that he planted an improvised explosive device under a car indicated by a Russian intelligence officer. The suspect left a smartphone with remote access at the scene so that the explosion could be watched live.
A civilian was seriously injured in the explosion, whose car was destroyed, Ukrinform noted, without giving details about his identity.
The suspect tried to flee the Odessa region, but was tracked down and detained shortly after the explosion. He could be sentenced to up to 12 years in prison.
As FACT already reported, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said last night that the phone call he had earlier this week with his American counterpart Donald Trump was "the best and most productive".
"As for the conversation with the President of the United States that took place the day before, it was probably the best conversation we have had all this time - the most productive", he said in his traditional evening video address, quoted by Reuters and BTA.
"We discussed issues related to air defense, and I am grateful for the willingness to help. It is the "Patriot" system is the key to protecting against ballistic missile threats," Zelensky stressed.
The Ukrainian president added that he had discussed with his American counterpart "several other important issues" that representatives of both countries would consider at future meetings.
Yesterday, Trump told reporters that he had had a good conversation with Zelensky, and again expressed his disappointment with what he said was Moscow's lack of willingness to work for a ceasefire. Asked whether the United States would agree to supply Kiev with more Patriot missiles, as his Ukrainian counterpart requested, the US president replied: "They'll need them for defense... They'll need something because they're getting hit pretty hard."
Russia has stepped up air strikes on Kiev and other Ukrainian cities in recent weeks, Reuters notes. It carried out its largest drone attack on the Ukrainian capital since the war began 40 months ago, just hours after Trump spoke with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Thursday.
