Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budris called on the European Union to immediately adopt the 18th package of sanctions against Russia in response to the largest air attack on the territory of Ukraine since the start of the full-scale war, Focus reports.

He made his appeal via a post on the social platform X.

Budris stressed that Europe should not just condemn the Kremlin's actions, but must take concrete and decisive measures. “This is not just a war, this is systematic state terrorism against a sovereign state and its civilian population“, he said.

Among the proposed measures, the minister is pushing for a reduction in the marginal price of Russian oil and additional restrictions on equipment and products used to manufacture drones and missiles. According to him, the delay in new sanctions “works in favor of Putin and his war crimes“.

Budris's call came after another night attack by Russia on Ukrainian territory. Air defense was activated in Kiev due to the threat of strikes in the western regions of the country. The city of Lutsk was among the hardest hit, with damage to infrastructure and a fire at an industrial enterprise reported there.

The same night in Cherkasy region, Ukrainian air defense managed to destroy 29 drones before they reached their targets. A serious fire also broke out in the village of Trebukhov, Brovary region, as a result of the Russian attack.
