The talks between Russia and the US in Alaska were substantive and brought the parties closer to making the necessary decisions, Russian President Vladimir Putin said, quoted by TASS.
"The conversation was very frank, substantive, and in my opinion, this brings us closer to the necessary decisions," the head of state said at a meeting in the Kremlin dedicated to the results of yesterday's talks in Anchorage. "We haven't had such talks at such a level in a long time," Putin noted. "We had the opportunity to calmly and in detail present" the Russian position, he added.
Putin promised to tell all participants in the Kremlin meeting in detail about the summit with US President Donald Trump. The Kremlin meeting continued behind closed doors.
The Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, former Russian Prime Minister and President Dmitry Medvedev said that one of the results of the Alaska summit is proof that it is possible to hold negotiations without agreeing on preconditions and while continuing Russia's special military operation in Ukraine, TASS reported.
Medvedev expressed this brief opinion in a post on social networks. In it, he said that the two sides in the Alaska talks directly assigned responsibility to Ukraine and Europe for achieving future results in the talks on the cessation of hostilities.
