Trump and Putin spoke on the phone for about 40 minutes

The American leader informed about the completed negotiations with Volodymyr Zelensky and the leaders of several European countries

Russian and American Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump had a phone conversation that lasted about 40 minutes. The American leader informed about the concluded negotiations with Volodymyr Zelensky and the leaders of several European countries, the Russian leader's aide Yuri Ushakov announced at a briefing.

The Russian president once again noted the importance of Trump's personal efforts to find solutions leading to a long-term settlement of Ukraine.

“Our president warmly thanked his American colleague for the hospitality, the good organization of the summit in Alaska and the progress made during the meeting towards a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian crisis“, Ushakov said.

Putin and Trump expressed support for continuing direct negotiations between the delegations of the Russian Federation and Ukraine: “The idea was discussed that it would be useful to study the possibility of raising the level of representatives of the Ukrainian and Russian sides in direct negotiations.“

The leaders of the countries “agreed to continue to maintain close contact with each other on Ukrainian and other pressing issues on the international and bilateral agenda“.

Today is an important day in diplomacy, the main focus is on discussing lasting peace in Ukraine, and not a temporary ceasefire. This opinion was expressed by the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries Kirill Dmitriev.
