Coalition of the Willing to Hold Video Conference on Tuesday

At 2:00 p.m., a special meeting of the European Council will be held, at which the participants in the meeting with Trump will report on the progress of the discussions

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that a video conference of the so-called "coalition of the Willing" on the topic of Ukraine will be held on August 19.

Merz noted that the conversation between US President Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House went very well. “It took place in a very calm atmosphere. We agreed to continue close cooperation in the coming days and weeks, and we will also plan further meetings with each other. First, tomorrow /b.r. today/ there will be a video conference of the “coalition of the Willing“. "There are a total of 32 countries that are ready to provide additional assistance to Ukraine," the German chancellor told reporters after talks at the White House on Monday.

Then, at 1:00 p.m. (2:00 p.m. Bulgarian time), Merz said, a special meeting of the European Council will be held, at which participants in the meeting from Europe and the EU will report on the progress of the discussions.

The German chancellor noted that the Europeans had spent a lot of time in the past few days preparing for the meeting in Washington. "I don't want to hide the fact that I was not sure that everything would go exactly like this today. Everything could have developed differently. However, my expectations from today's meeting were not only justified, but also exceeded," Merz summed up, adding that the participants spent almost five hours at the White House.

„It was a series of meetings. "We have agreed to maintain very close contact in the coming days and weeks in order to bring this initiative, which has already begun, to a successful conclusion. We still have a lot of work to do in the coming days and weeks, but we are determined to make it happen," the German Chancellor concluded.
