US President Donald Trump said that India has offered to reduce tariffs on US goods to zero. He announced this himself on his profile on the social network "Truth Social", Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

Calling US relations with India "one-sided", Trump wrote on his profile: "They have offered to reduce their tariffs to zero, but it's too late. They should have done it years ago."

The Indian embassy in Washington did not comment on the statement, which comes after the United States imposed a total 50 percent tariff on Indian goods.

Data released last week showed that India's economy expanded by 7.8 percent in the April-June quarter - the fastest pace in more than a year and well above the median forecast of 6.7 percent, according to a Bloomberg survey of economists.

Over the weekend, Indian Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said the country would not "bow down" to the US tariffs and would seek new markets. "We will not give in and we will never show weakness. We will continue to move forward together and conquer new markets," he said at a conference in Delhi.

Also over the weekend, a US appeals court ruled that most of US President Donald Trump's tariffs were illegal, dealing a blow to the White House's ambitions to use tariffs as a key tool in his foreign trade policy. Although it declared most of Trump's tariffs illegal, the appeals court left them in place until the case is decided by the Supreme Court, where Republican justices have a majority.
