Kazakhstan's Energy Minister Erlan Akenzhenov discussed with Doug Burgum, Secretary of the Interior and Chairman of the US Energy Dominance Council the implementation of joint projects, as well as ensuring the stable operation of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) as a major export route. This was reported by the press service of the Kazakh Ministry of Energy.

„The parties discussed the progress of major joint projects and plans for further development of the fields. Particular attention was paid to issues related to oil transportation, in particular ensuring the stable and reliable operation of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) as the main export route“, the press service noted after the meeting, which was held on the sidelines of the international energy forum ADIPEC-2025 in the UAE.

Akenzhenov recalled that American companies are key partners in leading projects in Kazakhstan, such as Tengiz, Karachaganak and Kashagan.

„The projects being implemented in Kazakhstan are key assets in the global portfolios of our American partners.“ “Their scale underlines Kazakhstan's strategic importance for global energy stability and is an indicator of successful and mutually beneficial cooperation“, the press service quoted Akenzhenov as saying.

In 2025, the Ukrainian side repeatedly attacked CPC facilities using drones. Kazakhstan's Foreign Ministry reported that Astana had conveyed its concerns about these attacks to Kiev.

The CPC is a large international oil pipeline system built to deliver oil from Western Kazakhstan (mainly from the Tengiz, Karachaganak and Kashagan fields) to terminals on the Black Sea near the port of Novorossiysk.
