The European Commission (EC) has allocated €347 million to ensure the security of submarine cables.
„The European Commission has allocated €347 million for strategic projects related to submarine cables, including a €20 million tender to improve the EU's repair capacity“, the EC press service announced. It stressed that these measures will „reduce risks to the EU's submarine communication infrastructure“.
The EC did not specify which specific projects, apart from the acquisition of new repair equipment, will be financed with this funding.
