Iran will not charge fees to vessels owned by Malaysia for passing through the Strait of Hormuz, said Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook.
“The Iranian ambassador noted that the fee for passing through the Strait of Hormuz does not apply to Malaysian vessels. We are a friendly country and we maintain good diplomatic relations with the Iranian government“, Bloomberg quoted him as saying.
Earlier, Mohammad Reza Rezai Kuchi, chairman of the Iranian parliament's Public Affairs Committee, announced that parliamentarians are drafting a law to impose fees for vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
