"We are looking forward to more and more exotics – sales platforms constantly sell goods of unguaranteed origin. Very often they don't even have labels on them. For example, longer shelf life vacuum cleaners are sold and can be ordered literally to your door. Nothing is written on them at all, but they have a clear sender," said Dr. Andrey Velchev, chairman of the Association for Affordable and Quality Food, quoted by BNR. According to him, this is happening in Plovdiv and Pazardzhik and the association is about to turn the case to the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency.
During the impromptu checks, with which the Association for Affordable and Quality Food exercises civil control in the commercial network, samples are taken together with the BABH for research, Andrey Velchev explained in the program "Before all".
Many of the relocation sites are staffed by persons without documents for this type of activity. These practices continue, he pointed out regarding outdoor food sales, for violations of which the association raised the alarm last summer.
The Association for Affordable and Quality Food insists on specific legal changes. One of them is to publicize the systemic offenders, because "they are not scared by the ever-increasing fines". Both the legal and the agricultural commissions in the parliament have not yet accepted representatives of the association for a meeting, Velchev clarified and described the dialogue with the parliamentarians as "absolutely none".
The Bulgarian citizen has a sense of lawlessness and that no one takes a stand on anything, commented Velchev. According to him, consumers are "at the threshold of their tolerance, because they are paying more and more money and getting lower and lower quality".
