This year in Bulgaria there are 22 beaches and one marina that have a "Blue Flag" - a sign of the highest quality of water, ecology and amenities, dariknews.bg reported.
Just a day ago it became clear that the Copenhagen-based Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) had taken the flags from exactly that many beaches in Greece. This means they no longer meet the standards of quality, safety, service and environmental management criteria to fly the highly coveted blue flag awarded each year.
The largest number of objects awarded this year with the environmental prize are on the territory of the municipality of Nessebar.
Here are the Bulgarian beaches listed as the best according to international standards:
"Arcutino"
"Dune-South"
"Dunes"
"The Harmanites"
"Sozopol-Central"
beach "Camping "Chernomorets"
"Pomorie-East"
"Nessebar-South"
"Sunny Beach-South"
"Sunny Beach-Central"
"Sunny Beach-North"
"St. Vlas-Central"
"Sveti Vlas-New Beach"
"Saint Vlas-East"
"Overview-Central"
"White-South"
beach "Hut "Chernomorets"
"Sunny Day"
"Golden Sands"
"Kranevo-North"
"Albena"
"The White Lagoon" Cave
Marina "Dinevi"
To earn a "Blue Flag", managers of beaches and marinas must fulfill a number of criteria.
These include regular water quality analysis, appropriate wastewater treatment, protection of sensitive natural areas, availability of lifeguards and first aid equipment, emergency plans, facilities for disabled people, separate waste collection and environmental education and information.
Marinas and cruise ships are also rated based on corporate social responsibility and community engagement.
