In the UK, rioting farmers are threatening to block ports and deprive supermarkets of food in a sign of a protest against the Labor government's tax hike.

Newspaper "Sunday Telegraph" reports that there is a significant escalation of sentiment among farmers against the budget announced by Finance Minister Rachel Reeves.

Reeves announced a 20 percent inheritance tax on farmers' assets worth more than £1 million, the BNR said. The tax increase has fueled fears that ordinary family farms will be forced out of business, which does not bode well for rural Labor in next May's local elections. Some farmers are already openly discussing plans to take more radical action. One of them told the "Sunday Telegraph" that there are already discussions about possible blockades of ports and food distribution centers.

The move to blockade the ports would be an echo of widespread protests across Europe earlier this year, where farmers used tractors to block the Belgian port of Zeebrugge as well as routes to several ports in Germany.

Such protests, which were against low food prices, heavy bureaucracy and trade with non-EU countries such as Ukraine, also took place in France, Spain, the Netherlands and Poland, where farmers used their trucks and tractors to block roads and border crossings.
